LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - The village of Daratah sits in northeastern Afghanistan Dec. 30. Soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, Task Force Ironman, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Task Force Red Bulls, conducted a key leader engagement with a village elder, as well as a mounted and dismounted patrol through several other hot spots around Combat Outpost Najil here. LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan - U.S. Army Capt. Jason Merchant, right, the company commander of Company A, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, Task Force Ironman, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Task Force Red Bulls, from Dysart, Iowa, hands out cards Dec. 30 to Afghan security guards near Combat Outpost Najil. The cards were printed with contact information for people to call in the event they see insurgent activity or are harassed by insurgent forces. Co. A conducted a joint mounted and dismounted patrol with Afghan National Army 1st Co., 1st Bn., 201st Inf. Regt., to focus on hotspots within the two units’ area of operations.
