KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – French Army Col. Georges German, the Task Force La Fayette deputy commander; and Nijrab District Deputy Gov. Mohamad Safi and chief of police inaugurated the Mollah Bashro police station here Nov. 2.
This was the first police station delivered to the Afghan authorities in Kapisa Province. Currently, 15 others are still under construction and will soon be delivered to the Afghan National Police.
A local construction firm handled the whole project, which was financed by the European Union to reinforce Afghan security capabilities. The union employs local workers of Nijrab valley for other projects and services such as water and electricity access, which also helps with the local economic development.
The new police station was built to improve the ANP working and living conditions. Originally the policemen were sheltered in containers. The 16 new stations will ensure the ANP have more security, comfort and durability at work.
The French Police Operational Monitoring Liaison Team policemen from Task Force La Fayette are deployed to Kapisa to provide ANP training courses. They teach topography, first aid skills, operational search techniques and crowd control capability.
Safi warmly thanked the POMLT for their work, help and collaboration with the ANP in this area, not only for the training but also for their help in improving the working conditions.
