KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – The Afghan National Army 3rd Brigade, 201st Corps conducted a major operation, Hope 3 Reaction, in order to improve the freedom of movement between the Tagab and Nejrab villages in northern Kapisa province, Afghanistan, Jan. 18.
After the area of operation was isolated, the Afghan National Security Forces, being advised by the French Operational Mentoring and Liaison team, Task Force La Fayette, moved to the Landa Khel village to search for insurgents. The units worked well together and the coordination between the two entities worked perfectly: while Afghan Soldiers from Kandak 32 secured the perimeter, Afghan National Police searched the houses.
“Before, we discuss with the elders of the village; we explain to them that we are here with police to secure the region and we are at their service. The owner of a house said to me that we can search his house and he was there to help them in our fight against insurgents” said Afghan Gen. Zamaray, commander, 3rd Bde., 201st Corps.
At first nothing was found, however the Afghan sappers later discovered an Improvised Explosive Device near the village.
“Through the mission we lead today, I want to relay a message to local the population; I would like them to further support the Afghan National Army, their children enter in our ranks for reinforcing our impact in the fight against insurgents. I want them to understand that Coalition forces work with us to ensure our own security of our country,” Zamaray said.
