Monthly direct payouts in the hundreds of dollars are up for the taking - but you must act quickly.
This will apply to qualifying citizens of Cook County, Illinois, which includes Chicago.
Last Monday, officials launched the $42 million Promise programme, which would provide guaranteed monthly income to 3,250 people.
The payments will be made over the course of two years, or 24 months. The move is intended to help low-income residents.
Cook County residents must be at least 18 years old and earn at least 250 percent of the federal poverty threshold to be eligible.

Applications are available online. Although the application must be completed online, the county offers in-person help.
Officials expect the payments to begin this winter. You can also sign up for updates on its website.
To be considered, applications must be submitted by Friday, October 21. That means you only have a week to apply.
