Kanye West Dropped By Balenciaga

OCTOBER 22 | MARK HEBREW

Balenciaga has officially cut ties with Kanye West after he made a series of antisemitic posts and other controversial comments.

Balenciaga's parent company, Kering, said, "Balenciaga no longer works with this artist and Company has no plans to do so in the future.

West legally changed his name to Ye, and earlier this year he worked with Balenciaga on the wildly popular Yeezy Gap line.

Gap signed a 10-year deal with Ye for the Yeezy Gap brand in June 2020.

However, West said last month that he was ending his partnership with the Gap because of "substantial noncompliance."

Mark Breitbard, CEO of Gap Brand, emailed staff that the firm was "winding down the partnership" because their "visions are not matched."

Adidas also said that it is rethinking its relationship with West because their relationship has become more tense.

Ye's Twitter and Instagram accounts were shut down earlier this month because some of his posts had antisemitic content, which was against the rules.

Records from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine show that West said he was "going death con 3 on Jewish people" in a tweet that he has since deleted.

Ye recently said that he wanted to buy Parler, a far-right social platform so that he wouldn't have to "worry about being taken off social media again."
